It should be the Asia Bazaar actually...more than India, you have people from Pakistan and Bangladesh putting up shops here..But,as mentioned in one of my previous posts...they are afraid to let people know their identity.
When you take a street-car (a tram, which you may have seen in Kolkata..much much faster than the Kolkata tram of course)from Bay Street to Gerard street, somewhere in the middle of your journey you can hear hindi songs blaring..boys shouting across the roads, the smell of the pani puri, kababs, the chhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaannn sound on the tava, you should know you have reached the Ashdale Street..or more precisely the India Bazaar..
Went there yesterday (Feb 13th 2011, after the La tour CN and shopping). It is probably the only market in Toronto which remains open after 7 pm. Even the Eaton Center..the third largest shopping mall in Canada closes at 6 pm.
I felt so much at home there..had ganne ka juice, pani puri and then dinner at A1 bhaia's restaurant...bole to Udipi Vihar..Idli,Medu Vada,sambhar,dosa..I was full..my tummy might be thinking that she's back to India I suppose ;) but I tortured it again in the afternoon with sweet and sour chicken balls!!
It was overall a nice experience..I was literally exhausted by the time I came home..so sorry...could not update the blog bout these trips yesterday...no more new news..4 more days here..Im done!!
Shall give a small summary before leaving..Good night and God bless!!
